About these terms
These are the terms that apply when you buy carpets, flooring, rugs, or fitting services from P&M Carpets Ltd, trading as P&M Carpets, of 212-216 Picton Road, Liverpool, L15 4LL. Nothing here removes any of the statutory rights you have under UK consumer law — they sit alongside it.
Quotes & estimates
Any price we give before a home measure is an indication, not a fixed quote. The written quote that follows the measure is the binding figure — it includes the floor, underlay, fitting, moving furniture, taking up old flooring, and waste disposal, unless the quote says otherwise. Quotes are valid for 30 days unless we say so in writing.
Deposits & payment
For most jobs we ask for a deposit (typically 30%–50%) when you confirm the order, with the balance due on the day fitting is completed. We accept card, bank transfer, and cash. We don't store your card details ourselves — payments are handled by our payment provider.
Cancellation rights
If you place an order at home, by phone, or online, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you a right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. To cancel, write to info@pandmfloors.co.uk or post a note to our shop.
Two important exceptions apply: (1) if you ask us in writing to start fitting inside the 14-day window, you may have to pay for any work and materials we've already used; and (2) bespoke or made-to-measure items (e.g. carpet cut to your room size, a bound stair runner) can't be cancelled once cutting has started. We'll always make this clear before you confirm.
Subfloor & preparation
We assume your subfloor is in usable condition unless we say otherwise in the quote. If we discover serious problems on the day of fitting (rotten boards, damp, uneven concrete), we'll stop and talk to you before going further. Any extra remedial work needs your approval and may change the quoted price and timeline.
Warranty & aftercare
Our fitting comes with a 12-month workmanship warranty — if a seam shifts or a board lifts due to how we fitted it, we'll come back and put it right at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on the flooring itself vary by product; we'll pass on the relevant paperwork after fitting. Normal wear, damage from spills or pets, and changes caused by extreme heat or damp aren't covered.
Liability
We'll work carefully and to a professional standard. We're responsible for losses we cause through our fault, but we don't exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Our total liability for any one job is limited to the price of that job, except where the law says otherwise.
Disputes
If you're unhappy with anything, please call us first on 0151 734 3947 — most things can be sorted on the same call. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute that can't be resolved between us.
